PM says ready to discuss chopper issue; team off to Italy

With the Opposition preparing to rake up the chopper scam in Parliament, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today said the government is ready to discuss the issue even as a team of CBI and Defence Ministry officials headed for Italy to collect evidence about alleged kickbacks.

Singh made it clear that the government would not shy away from debating the raging controversy over the Rs 3,600 crore deal for 12 helicopters meant to ferry Indian VVIPs.
