Couple Sells Child To Buy Jewellery

In a bizarre incident, a couple was arrested for selling its one-year-old son to purchase stationery items like saree, jewellery and mobile at Astal village in Bhadrak district here on Monday.
Acting on a tip off, officials of Child Welfare Committee (CWC) raided the place and arrested the couple. Later they took them to the town police station where after preliminary interrogation, the intoxicated duo identified as Pandya Mukhi and Barsha Mukhi confessed of having sold their son. Since their statements continued to vary, the CWC officials later took them into custody.
